Our spiritual growth occurs in community – not isolation. Sanctuary Groups are places where we gather to be known, to know God, and to more deeply know ourselves beyond our Sunday morning worship services.
FAQ
"How do I join a group?" Take a look at the list of groups in the webpage below. You can sort the groups by category to see which ones are welcoming new members. If you see a group you’d like to visit, click the title of the group to learn more. Then, click the “Contact the group leader!” button and ask the group leader about details for joining their next group session!
"What’s expected of me if I launch a group?" Of group leaders, we ask that you join the church as a member/Covenant Partner, that you grow as a Christlike servant (beginning with training with the Associate Pastor), that you figure out where and how to host your group, that you care for your group and fellow leaders, that you facilitate the spiritual formation of your group, and that you regularly create space for feedback within your group.
"What’s expected of me if I join a group?" Of group members, we ask that you attend group gatherings (and let your group know when you can’t join in), that you care for your fellow group members and leaders, that you grow with your group in Christlikeness, and that you regularly provide feedback to your group leaders to help shape your group environment. You do not need to be a formal member of the church to join a group.
"I don’t see an open group that's a good fit for me. What should I do next?" If you don’t see an open group that seems to offer the kinds of things you’re looking for, please reach out to our associate pastor, Micah Morgan, to discuss next steps! She’s eager to help you think through staying connected here at SCC.
“I’m interested in launching a group of my own! How do I do that?” We are always looking for SCC members/Covenant Partners who would like to launch new groups– especially in our underrepresented areas in Columbus! Please, reach out to our associate pastor, Micah Morgan, to discuss the training and launching process for group leaders.
