Our spiritual growth occurs in community – not isolation. Sanctuary Groups are places where we gather to be known, to know God, and to more deeply know ourselves beyond our Sunday morning worship services.

Group Title: Rest & Freedom

Leader: Dr. Korie Little Edwards

Launch Date: January 31, 2023

Date & Time: Tuesdays, biweekly, 6:45pm - 9pm, summers off

Location: Clintonville

All of our participants are adult women.

"This [book study] group is about practicing Rest and Freedom. Rest and freedom are core privileges of being children of God. Rest is practiced and mandated by God in Genesis. As Paul writes in Galatians, "It is for freedom Christ has set us free." I love that! I am seeking other women who too want to live free and rested. This group will [prioritize safety and authenticity] [and will] center the voices and experiences of women, with an emphasis on the lived experiences and voices of black women. We will read and engage various books, beginning with Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto by Tricia Hersey. Creativity and imagination are good for the soul. Art and creativity will be incorporated into our gatherings as well as sharing our hearts, collective prayer, and practices of meditation and rest."

Leader: Linette McDaniel-Corrigan

Date & Time: Saturdays, bi-weekly, 7-9 p.m., all year 'round

Location: Zoom

All of our participants are adult women.

As the name suggests, we are all introverts. All comers are welcome, but be prepared for thoughtful silences as part of our conversation!

In this group, we start by checking in with each other. Then we move on to a discussion time. Our goal is not to acquire information but to practice spiritual friendship with each other as we reflect on (or wrestle with!) important questions. We end by praying together. Occasionally we will get together in person at a different time (for example, taking a walk at a Metro park on Saturday afternoon) instead of having our Saturday evening Zoom.
