MX Kayak Tour of Columbus
Come join us for an afternoon on the water, thanks to Chad and Laurie Brennan and Sunrise Kayaking. There is no cost to attend. (Note: We can take up to 17 current MX students. So be sure to register ASAP!)
Please read through the below carefully and be sure to have a parent or legal guardian submit the linked waiver on your behalf.
IMPORTANT - Directions and parking
Please do NOT search for "Sunrise Kayaking" on your driving app or you will likely go to the wrong location. For directions, enter W Whittier St & S Front St, Columbus, OH 43206 in your driving app. When you arrive at that intersection, drive west on West Whittier St into the Scioto Audubon Metro Park. Park in the first parking lot you see on your right (next to a dog park). If that lot is full (unlikely), drive a little further down West Whittier St and park in the next lot on your right (next to the park office). After you park, walk down the road that is directly across from the park office. You should see the river on your right as you are walking down the hill. Please plan to park at least 10 minutes before your reservation starts to allow enough time to park and walk down the hill to our location. There is a bathroom available in the park office. That is the closest bathroom to our location.
Please ask everyone in your group to submit our waiver
Riders who are 18+ must submit our waiver (https://www.sunrisekayaking.com/waiver) for themselves. Riders who are under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian submit our waiver on their behalf. When you/they complete the waiver, we will email you/them a Waiver ID. All riders will need to give their Waiver ID to our staff when they arrive. It's helpful if you can make a list of everyone in your group's name and Waiver ID before you arrive.
Please arrive on time
Please stress to your group that EVERYONE must be at the launch area at least 5 minutes before your reservation start time. We frequently schedule reservations back-to-back and we have a limited amount of kayaks. Therefore, we are unable to "bump back" your return time if your group arrives late. For example, if your group is 15 minutes late, we will likely need to reduce your time on the water by 15 minutes, which is a bummer.
Clothes, shoes, personal items
Riders need to wear shoes and clothing that can get wet. The kayaks will typically take on some water while riders are paddling. We highly recommend that you keep personal items (phones, keys, wallets, etc.) in a waterproof bag if you take them on the kayak.
