What do we believe?

OUR IDENTITY

encountering god

We are intentional about developing a community of Christ-followers (disciples) that reflects the Kingdom of God here on earth in all of its diversity. This begins with growing a relationship with God and developing a heart for what God desires.

being known

Spiritual growth happens in community where we are able to be our most authentic selves. We don't hide our grief, our doubts, nor our struggles. Instead we share them with one another, developing a bond like no other.

loving others

When a community of disciples moves into action, great things happen – and love is demonstrated. We are a community of doers who share the love of Jesus with others through acts of compassion and justice. These individual acts of service have a cumulative effect that bless our entire church community by empowering every member and visitor to encounter God.

CORE BELIEFS

GOD

There is One God, who is the creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They are equal, exist in perfect community, and enjoy giving honor to one another. God takes pleasure in creation and wills for everything to bring glory to his name.

JESUS

Jesus Christ is God’s eternal Son, exists as fully God and full man, took on flesh to born of a virgin, taught men and women to be pleasing to the Father through a sinless life, died a sinners death on the cross, defeated death through bodily resurrection, ascended to heaven and rests at the right hand of the Majesty, now interceding on our behalf as advocate and High Priest.

HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit gives life to God’s creation.  To humanity the Spirit persuades us to acknowledge our fallen nature, to repent of sin, to confess Jesus as Lord, to be filled with power to overcome sin and live godly lives, and to receive spiritual gifts for building the church.

MEN & WOMEN

Men and Women were created in the image of God, tempted by Satan and rebelled against God and brought sin into the world.  Every person faces temptation, rebellion against God, and must place their faith in Jesus death and resurrection as the sufficient payment for our sin and eternal existence.

THE BIBLE

The Bible is the encompassing will of God for his creation with message after message of God’s redemptive love for humanity.  It is the only living, breathing text inspired by God without error in the original writings and the final authority for all people, at all times and for all situations of life.

GRACE

Grace alone is the gift of God for eternal life and it can not be earned by any other means than faith in the work of Jesus death and resurrection.

THE CHURCH

The Church is the multiethnic global community of believers past, present and future that proclaim the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the sufficient sacrifice for eternal life.  The church exists to gather together locally for worship, teaching, prayer and fellowship THEN scattered into homes, communities, and workplaces as the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus.

BAPTISM & COMMUNION

The Lord’s Table and Baptism communicate our love for God and the church, identifies us as a unique community of followers trusting in Jesus for salvation and the promise of his return for the church; it should be taken with careful attention to the grace of God through Jesus Christ, therefore it is recommended that committed believers share in this communion.

ETERNAL LIFE

Eternal life begins at the moment of faith in Jesus for salvation, it is maintained by the grace of God not by human effort and includes the bodily resurrection of authentic believers after physical death.  Jesus will return from heaven to make all things new, perfect and complete once again at the end of days.  Eternal death is to be separated from the love and presence of God for those that have rejected the justifying work of Jesus on the cross through their words and deeds.
